After Bathtub IV, he offers us another tilt-shifting video, this time filmed in Sydney Harbor, which proves that Keith definitly masters the technique of tilt-shifting.

Bathtub is a personal project that will document 12 months of life in ‘Little Sydney’.

Pikapika light painting

Tonight I felt that this blog lacks a good light painting video. So I watched a lot and found some interesting ones (I haven’t watched any for a long time). But for the moment, my fav is still the original “Pikapika the movie – Go ! Go ! Pikapika”.

A Pikapika is an abstract animation film made with flashlights. A series of photographs using long exposures are edited together to make them appear as an animation (stop-motion). You can find many informations about this technique on Pikapika blog.

Sand dancer

With a simple stick and a rake, sand artist Peter Donnelly from Christchurch, New Zealand, creates beautiful works of art that only last for as long as the ocean allows.

Moray McLaren – We Got Time

David Wilson, a London based animator, has directed this videoclip for the song “We Got Time” of Moray McLaren. A very contemplative clip that has been made just taking advantage of the way film and persistence of vision works No CG, no compositing animation loops onto footage.

Gravity, interactive installation

Gravity is a collaborative application using buildings’ architecture as a projection surface.

This real time interactive animation allows people to send sms text messages to the installation. The words are then embedded into geometric shapes, and are dropped from the top of the projection. The fall as well as their collisions with the building’s environment are physics-driven, making interactions happen between the different sent messages.

The words are stacking, accumulating, rotating thus creating a structural and spatial “cadavre exquis” both related to the building architecture and the projection. Bystanders become actors of the installation itself, and are playing a role by customizing their messages with punctuations, long words or simply by answering other people’s messages.

This video was shot on March 17th, 2009 as part of the E.motion electronic festival in Bordeaux. The show took place onto the Utopia movie theater’s facade, on a popular square in the city center. During the rough 3 hours that lasted the projection, 1017 messages were sent onto the wall by the audience who participated enthusiastically.

Gravity has been coded by Julien Gachadoat from 2roqs studio. The sound is from Splank Studio.

Tilt shifting technique can give some kind of extraordinary results, in particular when it is done by a master like Keith Loutit, a Sydney based photographer.

All the images you see in this helicopter rescue mission video are REAL. No models or digital additions. This is just reality seen through the eyes of Keith.

And it’s beautiful.

Extreme sheep LED art

The least we can say is that this funny video (made by The Viral Factory for Samsung) got viral. It reaches the top of every viral chart within a few days.

It is really amazing, and a lot of people were wondering if there was any fake in it. It seems not.

But I still wonder : does it make any good to Samsung ?

The Crevasse – Making of 3D Street Art

In Dun Laoghaire (Ireland) the “Festival of World Culture” took place from 21. to 24. of August 2008. Edgar Müller has followed the invitation and continued his series of large-sized 3D Street Art there. For this year’s Festival of World Cultures renowned German street painting artist Edgar Müller transformed a huge slice of the East Pier into a dramatic ice age scene. This project was supported by the Goethe Institution Germany.
