March 29, 2008 2 pm, somewhere in the Swiss Alps…

Xavier de Le Rue, snow cross triple world champion, is doing a great ride in the beautiful light of a warm sun, when suddenly… Snow begin to rush around him. In the helicopter, Henrik Windstedt can do nothing but watch…

The rider from Saint-Lary is found 2 kilometres further. Thanks to his ABS backpack, he has been able to stay on top of the 6 metres high avalanche.

It’s been a close call…

Here’s what Xavier has to say about it :

It’s been a close call, as close as it could pretty much get and a great example for all riders to remind what the other side of the coin can look like. There are times where having the gear (beacon transceiver, probes, shovel, mountain guide, ABS backpack…) and the best technique doesn’t help much anymore. Good to keep that in mind for future session.

Corey Vidal became famous on Youtube by publishing dancing lessons on video. This young canadian his now a Youtuber. That means that he makes video for a living, being paid through the revenue-sharing programme of Youtube.

So he tries to be creative to get some subscribers ;-) . And his last video was a real success, with this A cappella tribute to John Williams, which hits almost 3 million views in a month. In fact, I was quite disappointed to learn that he is not singing (The song is singed by an A cappella band called Moosebutter.- On their website, you can find the MP3 version of the song). Corey is only doing some lip-synching. Still, it’s a fun video and they all did a good job.

Emmanuel Guibert used a very special technique to draw Alan’s War : he draws with water. You can see the kind of extraordinary results he get with this video.

Find out more about this book, Alan’s War : the memoir of a WWII American G.I., on the editor website.
